Women's Sexuality > Sex Addiction

Is a topic to sit and discuss in depth, opinions vary, experts disagree. Any addiction signifies a lack of self control in some and addiction is where you are in a place, where you are unable to manage, or resist giving into the desire, temptation, pleasure, or habit that has you hooked.

What is Sex Addiction?

Sex addiction is the uncontrollable desire to have sex as frequently as possible with any partner.

Is Addiction Harmful?
While cigarette, alcohol and drug addiction can be fatal, sex addiction is not and the main consequences are catching social diseases and the stigma of being termed a nymphomaniac.

How to get control
Ideally we do not want control as control is a very common habit that can easy hook you.

Learning control is important, as it helps build your strength of character, it is important that this control is without denial, rather it must be soft, with acceptance, without any guilt or regret (unless you need to own it), with release, forgiveness and understanding.

The primary supportive tool is to love yourself, out of love grows strength and wisdom, as love grows, the light of love illuminates life, and the ability to laugh.

Freedom from addiction and the harmful effects of bad habits is liberation
Freedom is openness
Freedom stabilises personality, body and mind.
Freedom to more appreciate the beauty of life.
Freedom to take greater pleasure in living and giving
Freedom of conscious choice allows us to put energy into a life were all life, experiences freedom and joy.

Having sex 2 - 3x a week is not an addiction as long as it feels right for you. Controlling the desire for sex can be hard, especially after having a good taste.. Move your sexual energy - the desire for sex into other parts of your life. It may also stop the headaches. Note there are many experts in this field with widely differing opinions and in the end, it is what you feel in your heart that is important.

Q:
For me well I had my first sexual contact about 5 months ago and ever since then I have had 2 other sex partners and the reason for this is, that I feel like I need sex.  I feel so anxious when I don't have it, I have had intercourse 12 times and I'm only 15years old. I was wondering if you could give me some tips on how to control the anxiousness, and also when I feel the need for sex so I don't get it I get these really bad headaches,  please tell me how to control these urges for sex..... and I was also wondering if the need for sex I have means that I'm addicted to sex?

A:
There are many reasons that may stem from events in your life such as not feeling loved, abuse, exposure to sexual activity and concepts.  We all need to be wanted, to love and be loved, which may be missing in daily life, and sex can compensate for this. The headaches likely stem from the anxiety around the whole issue and no, you are not addicted.
Remedial action may include counselling, or finding a satisfying lover who by his loving, helps you to relax and enjoy the experience. There is no purpose in giving up having sex, if you do it safely and continue to enjoy it.
