Breast Self Care Massage
Self care equates to
self awareness and self responsibility.
Self awareness comes from the
actions of seeing, feeling and touching. The self
care massage outlined below and in the video down the page is a nice
method of
self examination and nothing to do with feeling self conscious, it
is about fully appreciating your body.
As much as your mother
may have said not to play with your breasts and
genitals, and remember you only did it because it
felt nice... It is by the regular touching in a nice
way to explore the texture and sensations within the
breasts that you develop greater self intimacy and
knowledge. By keeping in touch this way, you are
instantly aware of subtle changes and feelings that
you can observe and take appropriate action, be it to
rest more during the time of menstruation, or seek
medical advice for unusual symptoms.
Here we outline some
simple massage techniques that can be done by
yourself in the privacy of your own home. (in bath or
shower is nice)
Although almost any
gentle massage technique will be of benefit, these
techniques should be a part of your daily personal
care.
The
purpose breast self massage is to assist with the
removal of fluids, (both venous and intercellular),
and body wastes from the breast tissues, and more
specifically to remove the toxins via the lymphatic
system.
(The effect of
drainage is like squeezing a sponge, remove the old,
allow the fresh.)
Once the breast has
been squeezed out, fresh blood flows in carrying
nutrients. The action also helps to enhance the
health and elasticity of the support muscles and
ligaments, which will in turn provide you with better
breast support and appearance.
This procedure should
be done at least twice a week, more often is better.
It can be done on bare skin, but you may find that
using some vegetable oil, powder or some soft
material like silk.
Step One:
Self examination,
checking the overall softness and texture of
all the breast tissues. (similar to the photo
above, except treat one breast at a time)
Instruction
Gently massage the breast with a
kneading-like motion, using lifting and
pressing movements allowing your fingers to
explore the feel and texture. Feel free to
experiment with squeezing / massage movements
and find what is comfortable for you.
Step Two:
To assist in the
movement of venous fluids. (similar to the
photo above, except treat one breast at a
time)
Instruction
Use both hands to apply several, moderate
pressure, compressions to squeeze out venous
fluids, start near to the nipple and press
away to the sides.
Step Three:
Is simply to help
keep your support ligaments in good health
and assist in the fight against gravity.
Instruction
Slowly and carefully use your hands to rotate
and twist the breast in a clock wise and
counter clockwise direction, being careful
not to put too much tension on the breast.
Step Four:
A gentle draining
motion designed to drain the breasts
lymphatic system and is possibly the most
important of the four steps.
Instruction
Use your fingers to gently smooth away from
the nipple. These movements travel from the
nipple and directly away using no more
pressure than what you would apply to your
eyelids as any more pressure will flatten the
lymphatic vessels and stop the flow of toxins
and fluids.
Massage is an
excellent tool to help maintain over all health and
bodily awareness.
Breast Exercise
That's right, exercise. Just like building arms or legs, you can
build breast mass. In Thailand, public classes have been set up by
the government as masses of women want a bigger bust, but cannot
afford the herbal formulas. Massage is a part of this.
Self breast exam
The massage demonstrated here is best performed
with a little massage oil, or some soap while showering.
The
whole procedure takes from thirty seconds or more per breast.
